Bladder Cancer

The bladder is a triangle-shaped organ in the lower abdomen. It is located in the centre of the pelvis. The bladder stores urine.

Symptoms The main symptoms include blood in urine (hematuria) with the colour varying from pale yellow-red to bright red, frequent urination or pain while urinating, abdominal lower back and pelvic pain, urinary tract infections, incontinence, fatigue and weight-loss

Bladder cancer if detected early and localized (restricted to the bladder), ensures a good survival rate.

Causes of bladder cancer include excessive smoking (regarded as the single-biggest factor leading to bladder cancer), past radiation exposure, chronic bladder inflammation, exposure to chemicals, parasitic infection.
